Two Things Go Wrong With Sliding Patio Doors
Patio door problems come down to two things: the glass, and the way the door slides.
Patio doors use large insulated tempered glass units. When the seal fails, they fog between the panes; when they take a hit, they crack. The glass unit can be replaced in the existing door panel.
A patio door that drags, sticks, jumps its track or won't close and seal evenly is usually out of adjustment — the rollers have worn or settled, or the track is dirty or bent. Adjusting the rollers and cleaning or straightening the track brings back a smooth, easy slide.

- Dirt in the track — grit is the most common cause of a hard-to-slide door — vacuum it regularly.
Most dragging doors need roller adjustment and a clean track — not a new door.
